Hi Stefan,

No problems, it took me awhile to figure it out and there isn't much doco in regards to it!

So i'm glad it's helped someone else out.

Hi Major,

Linux is much more secure then windows, the way the linux architecture is created it's very hard to virus writers to destroy your system.

You can run some windows programs on Linux by using an application called Wine or Cross over office.

There are also alternative applications to Autodesk May, 3DsMax and adobe products.

May 2011 is capable of running on Linux, they say Red Hat and Fedora distributions are supported but you should be able to get it working on Ubuntu.

Blender 3D is more then likely the best Linux alternative to 3DS Max http://www.blender3d.org/

As for Adobe, they have many different products, your best bet is todo a simple google search for these.

Cheers,

Shayne.

Hi Ben,

I tested software from contentwatch and it seems to block any connect attempt to the VPN by default, however changing the port settings for the VPN I was able to get full access to the internet and tested against blocked sites setup via contentwatch

I'll download the trail and give it a shot, depending on what technology is used to monitor outgoing traffic is dependant of if it will bypass it or not. the VPN service runs over a non standard UDP port rather then TCP port 80 that i'm guessing majority of these software packages depend on, however I can't really comment 100% on that since i've never used them personally. Unless the software specifically defines the particular UDP port or a range of UDP ports to block, I don't see it's going to be a problem to bypass it.

Also, if the software does block it, the VPN can be changed to a different port.

Hi Jordy,

The script doesn't work, as it's my fault :(

I've updated it again, I missed changing some of the encoded " at 1am this morning :-)

Use wget and overwrite your script again, should work this time :-) let me know if it works alright.

Thanks again for your kind words...

Cheers,

Shayne.
